Ever wonder about all the water news lately? More and more, stories about water are coming into vision. Whether it’s about water quality (think Flint, Michigan, and hookworm in Alabama), long-term drought (think, Lake Mead’s running out of water)… and closer to home, our own dwindling snowpack, and recent wildfires, water security is a challenge that needs our attention – now. In this talk, participants will learn about water scarcity and its effects, both globally and more locally. We’ll talk about the future of water, and how the ways we value it in all of its different uses, needs to change. Rachel Cardone has traveled throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas working on water issues over the last 20 years, as an advisor to a wide range of public, private, and non-profit organizations. Prior to her return to independent consulting, she spent five years establishing the Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in Seattle.
