We’re all reeling still from the quick passage of HB 2136 and the new tax ramifications for everyone.  If you’re wondering how it will affect you, the customer, then you’re not alone.  Our prices will neither raise or lower because of this new structure.  The 37% is supposed to reflect the 25% excise tax on the producer/processor, and then another 25% at the retail level.  So the effect of the tax is that the same amount is levied – it just will work much more efficiently upstream from the consumer.
